Hydrogenation – A Deadly Chapter in the History of Nutrition

The American public has been deceived about foods for the last 90 years or so, starting with WW1 and the priority to send our real butter to the troops overseas, and the invention of margarine and shortening for the home folks. That began the domestic vegetable oil processing industry, and pretty much, the corruption of the whole food industry. The technology for converting cheap, liquid vegetable/grain oil into solid fat that had a nearly infinite shelf life was hydrogenation. Hydrogenation is a process of adding hydrogen atoms to the carbon chain that forms the backbone of every fat molecule, in locations where there were no hydrogen atoms before. Fats with missing hydrogen atoms are called mono- or poly-unsaturated fats, and so hydrogenation is a process of making more-saturated fats out of unsaturated fats. So, in addition to making margarine, the oil folks could make ‘partially hydrogenated’ oils with that nearly infinite shelf life for use in the entire baked goods industry, and nothing went rancid ever again.

But before hydrogenation takes place the raw oils must be ‘refined’ to get rid of the colors, smells, tastes and any – God forbid – cloudiness. These oils were promoted as being ‘pure’ and put on grocery shelves in clear bottles so we could feel good about their purity. The primary reason for refining is again, shelf life. Refining removes all the short-chain fatty acids that go rancid (oxidize) in a heartbeat, and are rapidly degraded by light. It also removes the thousands of nutrients locked in the seed or fruit that were available in simpler times to those primitive folks who used unrefined oils, pressed fresh in their markets on a daily basis. Understand this – everything needed to pass life from one generation to the next is present in the grains and seeds pressed for oil. The oil contains all the fat-soluble nutrients necessary for life, and that mankind evolved getting a big part of our nutrients from these oils.

In fact, there are two fatty acids that are ESSENTIAL to our life – we can’t make them in our bodies, and if we don’t get them we die. These are alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid. These are referred to as essential fatty acids or EFAs. They enable a huge number of functions in our bodies, including energy production, oxygen transfer in our lungs, hemoglobin production, cell division and growth, and are highly involved in brain development and operation. They are essential components of every membrane of every cell we possess, and control the flow of nutrients into and waste/toxins out of the cells.

Now, to add insult to injury, refining and hydrogenation create a type of fat molecule that rarely existed in the food supply before – the trans-fat. Normal unsaturated fats are bent molecules, because a missing hydrogen atom kinks the carbon chain; that’s what makes them functional in the body. Trans-fats, however, are straight because of the errant position of an extra hydrogen molecule, and can’t perform the same functions as the normal or sis-fat. But the body can’t tell the difference and tries to use them for the same functions, crippling cells and their operations. Tragically, there are mountains of evidence that the health impact of these changes is profound, but the food industry and our watchdog FDA show little concern.

The entire meat industry has been impacted as well. For decades we have been feeding livestock manufactured feeds based on hydrogenated oils, so that the composition of the fats in our meats is vastly different than it was in the 1800’s. It is now nearly devoid of EFAs and much higher in saturated fat and trans-fats than livestock that is free-range fed or wild game animals.

I want to impress upon you that fats and oils are essential for life, and the low-fat insanity of the last 30 years has damaged the health of two generations. But, you must avoid the harmful fats (refined oils and transfats) and eat the right fats to be healthy. For the most part that means Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and butter for cooking, and either flax oil or a balanced-EFA, unrefined oil mix such as Udo’s Oil by the tablespoon or as a base for salad dressings with meals. For general health take fish oil or cod liver oil as a supplement and everything will function better. For those of you who really want to get the truth in all its detail regarding the importance of fats in human physiology, I refer you to “Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill” by Udo Erasmus, 1993.

Also, the November,2005 edition of Life Extension Magazine (http://www.lef.org) has an article by Dr. Nicholas V. Perricone, MD. dealing with the history and detriment of the low fat insanity, as the primary cause of our rampant obesity, diabetes, autoimmune diseases and chronic inflammation, leading to heart disease, Alzheimer’s and more.

Quick Guide on Diabetes

The prevalence of diabetes has been steadily increasing world over. Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal.

It is estimated that more than 2000 new cases of diabetes are diagnosed everyday in the United States alone. While symptoms of Type 1 diabetes are usually obvious, Type 2 often shows few or no symptoms.
After a meal, food is broken down into a sugar called glucose, which is carried by the blood to cells through out the body. Cells use the hormone insulin, made in the pancreas, to process blood glucose into energy. Diabetics have problems converting food to energy.

People develop type 2 diabetes because the cells in the muscles, liver and fat do not use insulin properly. Eventually, the pancreas cannot make enough insulin to fulfill the body’s needs. As a result, the amount of glucose in the blood increases while the cells are starved of energy. Over the years high blood glucose damages nerves and blood vessels, leading to complication such as heart ailments, blindness, kidney disease, nerve problems, gum infections and amputation.

Rapid increase in population, increased longevity and high ethnic susceptibility to diabetes, coupled with rapid urbanization and deviation from traditional lifestyle continue to trigger diabetes cases. While a lot of work is underway to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes, people at risk should be screened regularly to prevent the ailment. And those who have already been detected with diabetes should aim to keep their sugar level under control.

Managing type 2 diabetes means making a few changes in how you live. The basics:

• Eat right
• Manage your weight
• Be physically active
• Don’t smoke
• Keep you blood sugar under control. It can help reduce the risk of diabetes related problems later.
• Your healthcare provider may prescribe diabetes medicines

Many people have no signs or symptoms. Symptoms may be so mild that you don’t even notice them. Here is what to look for

• Increased thirst
• Increased hunger
• Fatigue
• Increased urination especially at night
• Weight loss
• Blurred vision
• Sores that do not heal
• Genital itching or regular episodes of thrush

One in every six people with diabetes will have foot ulcer during their lifetime, each year, four million people worldwide get a foot ulcer. Cost of treating foot problems is enormous. Majority of the patient’s only report after they have infected foot ulcers with systemic complication. It is important to diagnose the problem at the earliest in order cure the foot problem.

Why should health of reproductive women taken care of?

Reproductive health is of concern for both men and women but it requires much attention in the case of a woman because she is more critical to many diseases and this could even lead to her death many a times. The women reproductive health is very sensitive and reacts to very minor hormonal imbalances. So being a woman, you should be well aware of the functioning of your reproductive system. You should also go for regular pap smears (check up) during your reproductive years for a good reproductive health. At the same time you should be aware of diseases caused due to unsafe sex practices and contraception methods.

Understanding your reproductive system:
The more you know about your reproductive system, the better would be your situation to make decision to prevent or increase your pregnancy. Your reproductive health is more than your menstrual cycle. Each month, your body goes through natural body and hormonal changes. Therefore, the process of fertilization of ova with the sperm takes place leading to pregnancy. When the released egg doesn’t get fertilized while passing from the fallopian tubes towards the uterus, it sheds in the form of menstrual cycle. In this way you can make a chart of your ovulation and menstrual process to decide pregnancy.

Visit your health provider for pap smears:
You should always be conscious for your reproductive health and visit your health provider for proper papanicolaou smear check ups which is done to access cervix (an opening above vagina and below uterus) health. You might think that this test is not of much important but it will let you know about cervical cancer that could be treated in its early stages.

Proper use of tampons and contraceptive methods:
If you are a regular user of contraceptive methods such as pills and tampons you should take appropriate care of. This is because uses of tampons often lead to toxic shock syndrome. Toxic shock syndrome is a type of blood poisoning that makes a person ill in a very short span of time. Women experience this disease at the time of their menstrual cycle in the form of high fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, rashes, peeling of skin, blood shot eyes, sudden down blood pressure and organ failure.

Free Colored Contact Lenses

With all the hype about using colored contact lenses to alter eye color, many people are looking for free colored contact lenses to assist them in making the right choices when choosing colored contact lenses. Fortunately, some companies do offer free trial pair colored contact lenses that are worn once and then disposed of. But you’ll have to search for these offers as the supplies are limited and the promotions don’t last very long.

Before you begin your research you should read the following advice so that you’ll know what to expect when trying free colored contact lenses.

Can I try my friend’s colored contact lenses on?

Never share contact lenses with anyone. Harmful bacteria can be transferred from eye to eye and result in eye infections, corneal ulcers, scarring of eye tissue and in severe cases, loss of eyesight. Just as you’d never share your toothbrush, never share contact lenses.

Do I have to have a prescription for free trial pair colored contact lenses?

You’ll need a prescription from you doctor before you can order colored contact lenses. Even if you’re buying them for cosmetic purposes and don’t need vision correction, you’ll still need to see your eye care provider.

Your eye care provider will make sure you are a good candidate for colored contact lenses and ensure that you are properly fitted for them. Proper fitting of a colored contact lens is essential to eye health and improper fitting can lead to a permanent loss of vision.

Your doctor can also provide you with tips in the care and cleaning of contact lenses as well as hygiene practices that can minimize your risk of eye injury.

Will companies send a set of free colored contact lenses to me to sample?

Obviously, it would be good if you can first try out different colors contact lenses to find one that match your skin and hair color. Some companies offer promotional offers in which they will send you a set of free colored contact lenses for a one time use so that you can compare their product to others. You’ll be asked for a prescription from your doctor and your mailing address. In return you’ll receive a free trial pair and coupons towards the purchase of additional pairs.

A few companies will offer you a free sample of a different color with your already paid order for color contact lenses so that you can experiment with other colors and designs. These companies require the purchase of at least one set before they will send you a free sample.

In general, the free colored contact lenses have limited colors to choose from. Typically all free sample offers are for cosmetic use only and do not offer vision correction. Moreover, some of these free trial pair colored contact lenses carry a ‘DEMO’ mark at the side of the lenses. Even though the free colored contact lenses have these limitations, but it is still a good and low cost option to help you to determine the colored contact lenses you want.

Where can I find free colored contact lenses to samples?

If you’re interested in trying colored contact lenses, you should see your eye care provider. He or she will be able to direct you to a company that may offer free samples.

The internet is a great source of information for those searching for free colored contact lenses and there are plenty of free trial pair colored contact lenses sample available. You can compare companies, prices, styles and colors of contact lenses from the comfort of your own home so that you will be able to make informed decisions and assess your needs in a colored contact lens.

In general, all you need to pay is just a small amount of service charge (in the range of $5.99) for shipping and handling cost. Till end of 2004, CIBA Vision is offering a free wardrobe called ‘Freshlook Fashion Color Collection’ that comes in three pairs of colored contact lenses for customer who purchase four or more boxes of Freshlook colors contact lenses or Focus Softcolors.

Andrew Loh is the owner of Colored Contact Lenses Guide a web site that provide informational guide to colored contact lenses.

The Benefits of Maintaining Your Body’s Healthy pH Level

With today’s busy lifestyle, it has become quintessential to protect your body’s health. Pollution is also eating us away bit by bit. Sickness and disease connected with stress, depression and pressure connected with work and making money has become a trend nowadays. But working and making money is not an activity that we can just walk away from for the sake of our health.

Precarious eating habits are also not helpful to our body. What we put into our mouths can either help us get healthy or contribute to our body’s demise. There are other things we should also watch on aside from sugar levels, blood pressure and cholesterol. And what I’m talking about is our blood’s pH level.

Our blood’s pH level is perhaps the single most important measurement we should watch on. Healthy blood pH is around 7.4, which is slightly alkaline; this level must be maintained in order for our body to function well. The maintenance of our blood’s healthy pH level is essential to our body’s functions. Functions which are affected with your pH level are blood flow, cell function, fat accumulation, and bone density.

The smoothness of our body’s blood flow is determined by the electrical charge that is coated on each individual red blood cell. Each red blood cell is assigned a negative charge so that they will not attract each other, similar to what two magnets with similar poles do when you put them together. When your blood’s pH level goes down, it means your blood has become acidic. What acidity does to your red blood cells is that it strips off that charge in each red blood cell; making the individual red blood cell stick together, forming clumps that make blood flow slower. Slower blood flow means lesser oxygen going to your body, dropping your performance.

If your blood is acidic its pH level is low, but if it is more alkaline, your pH level is high, if your blood has a higher pH level, that means you have a higher threshold of hydrogen ions. The presence of hydrogen ions halts muscle function, and the more that you have in your body, the more your muscle is bound to work slowly. Having a higher blood pH level means that your blood can accommodate more hydrogen ions before it begins to spread into the muscles and make it stop working. This means, that you can burn more energy while requiring less oxygen, allowing your body to tolerate the production of lactic acid more and enabling your body to perform things longer.

Hence, if you want you’re an athlete who needs a boost or just a normal individual longing to increase your body’s performance, it is important that you watch for your body’s pH level. You can do this by taking a simple saliva test that can be done with some acid paper strips which can be bought at local drugstores.

Acidity in your body also destroys cells and makes you fat. Your body reacts very defensively at the presence of acids, since, as I have said earlier, it affects how your body functions. Rising acidity is harmful to the vital information storage centers in your cells, the RNA, which if occurs makes it possible for mutations, toxicity or even cancer to develop. When this threat is apparent, what your body does is to coat your cells with fatty tissues just to shield it from rising blood acidity, making you need more fat. So the more your blood becomes acidic, the more you become fat.

Rising blood acidity also lowers your bone density. The body tries so hard to regulate the body’s ph level that it releases buffers to counter that acidity. Releasing buffers into the body is a good thing, but, how the body does it is not good for the bones. Each and every time your pH level drops, which means rising acidity levels, the body uses the calcium in your bones as buffers to maintain that crucial level of pH 7.4! This eventually lowers you bone density making you prone to osteoporosis and weak bone structure.

It’s very hard to replenish calcium levels you’ve lost through supplying buffers, that is why you need a good source of alkaline to help make your blood more alkaline and supply buffers for your body. Green vegetables and fruits are a good source of alkaline, while meat and processed foods are acidic. A healthy diet will consist of 80% alkaline foods and around 20% acidic foods. Supplements and other products are also readily available. Products like Xooma Xtreme X2O, and sodium bicarbonate also help you balance your pH level. This product does not only help you in lowering your blood pH level & maintain your body’s health, but it also makes it possible for you to make money at the same time. Xooma also offers a lucrative Online MLM options to those who want to earn money. You can go here if you want to know more about Xooma Xtreme X2O and Online MLM.

It’s about time that you take good care of your body. Now that you know that what you eat can contribute a lot to how your body works and how it performs, isn’t it about time that you give your utmost attention on your diet. Think about it, you will gain a lot if you balance your lifestyle and diet, but you will certainly lose a lot if you do not start being conscious. So eat healthy and be wealthy!

Health care for globe trotters

Health care for globe trotters

50% of people, who travel, suffer a travel – related illness. All travelers should be well prepared for travel and be prepared to protect themselves from travel related illness. In this issue various aspects of travel related illness have been discussed with related protective measures.

According to ayurveda traveling causes vitiation of vata dosha. Vata dosha regulates all the activities of body like digestion, respiration, excretion, transmission of nerve impulses ,reflexes, body movements etc. When vata gets vitiated due to traveling all these normal functions of body also get imbalanced .The imbalances in body functions project themselves as travel related illness.

Motion sickness: Almost every body are susceptible to motion sickness. Fatigue, giddiness, deprivation of sleep, nausea and vomiting are the main unwelcome symptoms of motion sickness. Avoid consuming alcohol, pain killers, spicy foods, fried foods and junk foods during traveling. Try to relax and chose a window seat. Do not read or talk. Or watch someone who is motion sick.

Eat light food. Include pomegranate, ginger and curds in your diet while traveling. Rinse your mouth and wash your face with cold water as soon as you take your food.

Diarrhea: Though travelers’ diarrhea is mild inconvenience to a traveler, it may at times be life threatening too. Upsets in digestive system frequently occur in travelers due to stress, time zone changes, irregular meal times and new foods. But serious diarrhea during traveling is caused by bacteria, viruses or parasitic infections. The best way out is to take ample precautionary measures.

Wash your hands frequently. Use sanitizing liquids, hand washes or gels which cleanse the hands without water. Always use disposable hygienically packed tissue papers than towels. Avoid street, roadside foods, buffet meals. Select food which is well cooked and served hot. Thick-skinned fruits which you can peel yourself are usually safe. Avoid raw or undercooked meat, fish, uncooked vegetables, salads. Be care full with unpasteurized milk and milk products. Always use sealed mineral water, canned juices and beverages. Never use ice cubes or unsealed bottled beverages. Bottled Beer, wine and hot coffee or tea are safe. Drink from original containers or clean glasses

If you get mild diarrhea eat light ,soft and semi solid foods like idli, soups etc which are easily digestible. Avoid heavy, spicy and non vegetarian foods. Drink plenty of fruit juices.(canned or hygienically packed.). Keep yourself well hydrated. Consult a doctor immediately if diarrhea leads to dehydration.

Constipation: people often become constipated when traveling because their normal diet and daily routines are disrupted. Drink plenty of water and consume food which are rich in fibers to avoid constipation .

Try to adhere to routine food timings .Drink a big glass of water every day morning. Avoid frequent consumption of tea or coffee. Taking two thriphala tablets with warm water before going to bed helps to normalize bowel movements. These tablets should be avoided during pregnancy.

Tired feet Even healthy people can get blood clots in their legs after long hours of traveling. Try to walk every now and then. Drink water, stretch your calf muscles while you’re sitting and wear support stockings.

Foot bath for tired feet: Massage your foot with little coconut oil and soak them in warm water . You can add few drops of lavender oil or peppermint oil or sandal wood oil to warm water. After a foot bath rub your foot. Relax after a foot bath.

Prevention of Malaria: To prevent mosquito bites and malaria wear mosquito repellent .Stay indoors between dusk and dawn. The malaria spreading mosquitoes generally feed at this time. Apply mosquito repellent, to your clothes and bedding. Wear socks, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts when outdoors. Use a mosquito net while sleeping. Stay in air-conditioned, screened accommodation.

Jet lag To avoid jet lag get plenty of sleep before you leave. Don’t drink a lot of alcohol while on flight. Eat well-balanced meals and avoid over eating. Exercise as much as you can on your trip. Get used to a new time zone by going along with the local meal and bedtime schedules.
Accidents: Do not drive in unfamiliar places where you know less about that regional language, road conditions, rules of the road, condition of the vehicles. etc. Choose your transportation carefully. Check the security, life saving facilities provided in the transport. Chose, the cab with seat belts, hotels with fire escape and ferries with life preservers. Never swim in unknown rivers or seas when you are not familiar with sea currents and waves.

Sex: Have a safe sex when you are with unfamiliar new partners. Alcohol, drugs and sex are dangerous combination

Immunization: Get immunized with vaccines before traveling. Avoid animal bites and saliva. If you are bitten by dog wash the wound immediately with soap and water.

Travel during pregnancy: If you chose to travel during pregnancy the second trimester (weeks 14 to 27) is the best time. Before traveling take the opinion of your consulting doctor and provide him the sufficient details about the places you are visiting, mode of transport etc.

Tips for older travelers See your doctor for a checkup and discuss your fitness .See your dentist and ophthalmologist. Keep a spare pair of glasses, any medications you need in a small medical kit. Organize travel health insurance with pre-existing illness cover if needed. Make sure it covers emergency evacuation. Make sure routine immunizations are done before traveling. Consider your back – use luggage with built in wheels. Take clothes and hats to suit the climate.

Other safety precautions: Check with the regional office or through internet the situation of places you are planning to visit. The destination places must be free from riots, terrorism, floods or other calamities.
Mental tensions: Preparations for traveling lead to worry and tensions. Here are few relaxing tips before and during traveling.

1. Close your eyes , take five deep breaths through your nose and pay attention only to your breathing while doing this.
2. Taking a hot shower relaxes your muscles, and the break from more stressful activities helps too.

3. Laugh. Laughing helps to relax. Find people who can make you laugh and make your moments lighter..

Vitamin B Family

B VITAMINS

Thiamin (B1); Riboflavin (B2); Niacin (B3/B4);
Pantothenic Acid (B5); Pyridoxine (B6);
Biotin (B7); Inositol (B8); Folic Acid (B9);
Para-aminobenzoic Acid (10); Choline (B11);
Hydroxy / Cyanocobalamin (B12)
Pangamic Acid/ Calcium Pangamate (B15)

The vitamin B family consists of 15 different B vitamins. B Vitamins help us use energy. Its like putting a sandwich up against your forehead. Not going to do you any good is it? All B vitamins are all required for different stages of the process whereby energy is released from the food we eat every day.

Vitamin B-1 (Thiamine): RDA 1.2 MG

Vitamin B-1 is a water soluble vitamin. It is known to be beneficial to the nervous system and positive mental state. B-1 aids digestion and promotes growth. Things such as cooking vegetables, drinking alcohol or caffeine, and even antacids can destroy this essential vitamin.

Its main role is to break down carbohydrates from food and convert them into sugar
Thiamine is destroyed by alcohol, so many alcoholics are thiamine deficient
Thiamine is found in pork, sunflower seeds and peanuts
Thiamine is added to many cereals

Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin): RDA 1.7 MG

This easily absorbed water soluble vitamin is needed for tissue repair and healthy skin. It also helps the body use oxygen and aids in the formation of healthy antibodies and red blood cells.

Helps body release energy from proteins, carbs and fats
Food sources include milk, cheese, yogurt, beef, and green vegetables
Riboflavin is destroyed by light-if you have breads that contain riboflavin, keep them in the dark

Vitamin B-3/4 (Nicain/Niacinamide): RDA 20 MG

Water soluble Niacin is important to the brain’s functions, and in promoting healthy skin, nervous and digestive systems. Niacin is also a natural cholesterol-lowering agent.

Provides energy for cell tissue growth
Food sources are chicken, fish, veal, certain cereals and liver
The body can produce niacin from tryptophan which is found in milk and eggs
If you have a diet high in tryptophan, your need for niacin is reduced

Vitamin B-5 (Pantothenic Acid): RDA 10 MG

Our body’s adrenal glands and digestive system depend on B-5. It helps in cell building and maintaining normal growth. It is believed to be a factor in helping the body fight physical stress.

In association with coenzyme A, it helps to convert nutrients to energy
Can lower cholesterol and some people say it enhances their athletic abilities
Food sources include yeast, liver, eggs, peas, peanuts, lean meats and legumes

Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine): RDA 2 MG

Pyridoxine, this water soluble vitamin is needed to help keep teeth, gums, blood cells and our nervous stysem funtioning helthily. B-6 plays an important role in converting fats, proteins and carbohydrates into usable energy for your body. B-6 is an essential B-Vtiamin that the human body needs to stay in a healthy state. It can help protect the body in helping to form antibodies. B-6 also plays a role in the body’s potassium and sodium balance.

Uses protein to build body tissue and metabolizes fat
Food sources include chicken, beef liver and blackstrap molasses
It is necessary for the production of antibodies and red blood cells

Vitamin B-7 (Biotin): RDA 0.3 MG

Water soluble Biotin helps keep your skin and circulatory system in a healthy state. It is also needed to break down fats and proteins. Biotin plays a role in maintaing healthy hair and helps other B-Vitamins work better. B-7 is essential for healthy skin.

Metabolizes protein and fat
Enables the body to absorb vitamin C
Lack of biotin in the diet can lead to eczema and hair loss
Food sources include fruit, nuts, brewers yeast, peanut butter cauliflower and egg yolks

Vitamin B-8 (Inositol): RDA 40 MG

Inositol is a B-Factor in the B-Vitamin family. Inositol aids in fat breakdown and offers nourishment to brain cells and metabolizes fats and cholesterol. Inositol also plays an important part in the health of cell membranes especially the specialized cells in the brain, bone marrow, eyes and intestines. Inositol is said to promote healthy hair, hair growth, and helps in controlling estrogen levels and may assist in preventing breast lumps. It may also help reduce blood cholesterol levels.

Vitamin B-9 (Folic Acid/Folate): RDA 0.4 MG

Folic acid is important for the formation of new red blood cells and aids in the converting go proteins into energy. It is necessary for the growth and division of body cells. Folic Acid is also very important in preventing birth defects related to the spine and brain. A definecy of folate can lead to many major help problems.

Potential cancer fighter because it produces red blood cells and genetic material in cells
Pregnant women must get adequate amounts of folic acid or there is risk of serious birth defects
Heavy drinkers and women on birth control pills have a high risk of becoming deficient in folic acid
Food sources include green leafy vegetables, legumes, liver, peanuts and bananas

Vitamin B-10 (Para-aminobenzoic Acid): RDA 25 MG

Water soluble PABA is important in the break down of protein. It has important sun screening properties and helps keep the skin healthy and smooth. PABA is a factor in helping to form folic acid. PABA is used in sun protection lotions to help reduce and protect you from sunburn.

Vitamin B-11 (Choline): RDA 200 MG

Also known as amanitine, lipotropic factor. An active constituent of lecithin, Choline is a water soluble member of the Vitamin B complex. It is not a true vitamin as it is synthesized in the liver. Choline helps assists in the correct stabilizing and metabolism of fats. Without Choline, fats can frustrate metabolism by becoming trapped in the liver.

Vitamin B-12 (Hydroxy/Cyanocobalamin): RDA 0.006 MG

Vitamin B-12 also known as the “red vitamin”, helps play a role in building rich blood and in the development of your body’s red blood cell growth. B-12 is also important for the nervous system. Vitamin B-12 plays an important role in concentration, balance and memory. It is hard to digest so we need to ingest much higher amounts than the RDA in order to absorb enough. Vitamin B-15 (Pangamic Acid/ Calcium Pangamate): RDA 25 MG

Vitamin B15 is a water-soluble vitamin. It is not a vitamin in the strict sense because it has not been proven to be an essential requirement for the body. It detoxifies the by-products of human metabolism, assists in the regulation of hormones, extends cell life and is an instant oxygenator. Pangamic acid also has antioxidant properties, which may help explain why it is so highly touted for its ability to confer protection against urban air pollutants, stimulate increased immune system response, lower blood cholesterol levels, protect the liver from the ravages of alcohol, cure fatigue, and ward off hangovers, Vitamin B15′s effect is improved when taken with vitamin A and vitamin E.

A convenient way to get you’re recommended amount of the B vitamins is to take a high quality vitamin B complex supplement while continuing to eat a variety of the recommended foods above. A vitamin B supplement will help with a vast array of health issues including promoting good eyesight, a good immune system, strong nails and hair and a healthy nervous system. It can also prevent shingles, cancer, physical stress, heart disease, high cholesterol, neurological damage such as memory loss and mood changes as well as birth defects.

Signs that you may be vitamin B deficient include:

mental problems
heart palpitations
indigestion
chronic fatigue
Paranoia
fear that something dreadful is about to happen

Acne Program – Step 2: Using Acne Face Cream

After you have washed your face with a chemical free soap, use an applicator to dip into Scotty’s face cream or you favorite face cream. Place the cream on your face and spread it all around. Massage the cream into your face gently so the skin absorbs the oils in this cream.

These oils will seal the pores and hold the natural moisture of the skin and enhance the curing effects of the cream

You can use the cream 2-3 times a day. It is best to use it after you have cleaned your face in the morning and right before you go to bed. You can also use it during noontime.

You can use Scotty’s’ cream under your makeup or over your makeup. It will work either way. However, it will work better on a clean face.

You will notice that when you apply the cream it will tingle in areas without sores and may sting in areas of open sores. This will pass and as it does it should reduce the itchiness of any sores.

Scotty’s cream has allantoin, which will help to clear acne sores. The oils, vitamin A and E, and minerals in Scotty’s will help to feed, rebuild, and rejuvenate your skin. The minerals also help to neutralize the toxic acids that have contaminated and inflamed pores on your face.

During cleansing and fasting, more acid waste may come out of your pores. This is why Scotty’s cream will help you to reduce the inflammation and spread your acne.

Tree Tea Oil

To make Scotty’s cream or your own cream even more powerful, you can add 5-10 drops of pure tree tea oil to a two-ounce container. You can experiment with the amount to add. You may want to add more drops to provide more tea tree oil for your face. But, do not use more than 15 drops.

Tree tea oil has been found to be effective in various skin disorders. It acts as an antiseptic, antifungal, and antibacterial. This oil helps to bring oxygen to the skin cell, which kills bacteria and fungus and helps to repair damaged skin caused by acne.

Borage Oil

There is one more thing that you can add to Scotty’s face cream or your favorite acne cream that will boost its acne clearing power. This is borage oil. Borage oil contains EPA and DHA, which helps to control excessive hormones that cause the over production of sebum.

It is the adrenal glands that produce streams of androgens during puberty. These large quantities of androgens help to activate bone growth and assist in bringing forth sexual maturity.

A side effect of these androgens is the release of excess oil from the oil glands near the hair follicle. This excess gives rise to

§ black heads
§ white heads
§ pimples
§ cysts
So here’s what you can do to make your face cream even more effective,

§ Mix one or two capsules of Borage oil into your cream
§ Do this by cutting the tip off of the Borage oil softgel and squeeze the oil into the cream

There is a new form of EPA and DHA that is available in a product called Neptune Krill Oil (NKO)

Neptune Krill Oil (NKO)

NKO is the new EPA and DHA product, which maybe better to use than Borage Oil. NKO has the omega-3, EPA and DHA in the phospholipid form, which is easier for your cells to absorb compared with Borage oil. Borage oil contains the omega-3, EPA, and DHA in triglyceride form, which is more difficult for cells to absorb.

One other good property of NKO is that is does not have to be refrigerated like Borage. It can be kept in a cool place in your cabinets. However, it does cost more than Borage oil.

Word of Caution: As with all creams and oils, if you get any rash or skin reactions when using them, discontinue their use.

Use a good face cream to help clear your acne. You can boost the power of this cream by adding tree tea oil and borage or NKO oil.
